Spring 2021 Catalog

Publisher's Note

Dear Friends,

As the seasons change and a new year is upon us, I recall a favorite Albert Einstein quote: “Don’t listen to the person who has the answers; listen to the person who has the questions.” Inquiry and wonder foster empathy and problem-solving—key skills for the open-minded and creative global citizens and leaders of tomorrow.

As an independent, mission-driven press, we’ve found that staying close to our principled vision has helped us weather the current storms. With hopefulness and courage, we aspire to empower the next generation of global citizens with empathy, resilience, creativity, and the shared value of nature and its stewardship. This purpose is evident in every book we publish—as well as in our sustainable business practices. Our books are printed on FSC-certified paper with vegetable inks, and we contribute one percent of our annual sales to environmental causes through 1% for the Planet.

So, Blue Dot Kids Press is proud to present our spring 2021 list: four extraordinary titles that are particularly resonant and relevant right now. We are branching out to wee ones (ages zero to three) with Ocean Animals and Birds, the first two titles in our new multilingual board book series, Words of the World. Welcome Home, Whales (for readers three to eight) eloquently explores issues our children are grappling with today. Older readers (eight to twelve) will find actionable inspiration in the illustrated nonfiction guide Our World Out of Balance: Understanding Climate Change and What We Can Do.

We hope you enjoy our spring 2021 list as much as we do. And if you’re just learning about us, you’ll also find our full list of celebrated titles in the back of this catalog.

To our new readership of every generation, welcome. We look forward to taking this journey with you.

With gratitude,

Heidi Hill Founder and Publisher
